Bone Blog & Why a studio matters

Updated: Jun 7

I have often thought of this in the seat of my soul, because life has had its challenges and you never know, so todays Bone Blog is about this and why a studio matters

If everything in life were to fall away - if circumstances narrowed as we see so often around us today. if space became small and i found myself living in a simple room with the most basic needs, well i would still place my easel upright near the light. As i think about this, possibly there would be a stove, a chair and a bed tucked in a corner, but i would cherish this small space as long as i had materials to work.

Not out of ambition or even out of hope, rather because something in my spirit remains steadied by the act of making......

A studio in its essence is not a grand space and is not defined by cosmetic perfection, it is simply a place where one returns.

All i would need is a surface and a few materials and an inner permission to continue. In fact over the years i have come to understand that this ability to sit with a brush, saturate it in color, to begin again and remain present while a painting is forming, has less to do with outcome and everything to do with continuity....Its a way of "staying"

to be continued....there is more!
