Clay is an essential part of my process

Weight, balance, proportion...

Watching a figure emerge from a solid mass is

both technical and intuitive.
It sharpens my understanding of structure,

which in turn deepens my painting.

Clay is not separate from my canvas work.
It is part of the same investigation —
between form and feeling.
